Before You Buy

• Taper Tap: Best for starting threads in through holes or when alignment is critical. The long lead gradually eases the tap into the material, reducing cutting force and improving thread straightness.
• Plug Tap: The most versatile option and the standard choice for general-purpose tapping. Suitable for both through holes and blind holes where full threads are not required at the very bottom.
• Bottom Tap: Designed for blind holes that require threads close to the bottom. Use only after starting the hole with a taper or plug tap to avoid tool breakage.
• Hole Preparation: Always drill the recommended tap drill size before tapping. Proper hole diameter, alignment, and use of cutting fluid are critical for producing accurate threads and maximizing tool life. See recommended drill size below.
